the corkscrew!
So why does L'Arbre à Café propose today a corkscrew, and not the least since it is manufactured by the company Perceval, Entreprise du patrimoine Vivant based in Thiers, and made with the wood of the Geisha coffee trees of one of the most beautiful and prestigious plantations, the Finca Deborah, managed by the excellent Jamison Savage?
The Corkscrew of L'Arbre à Café is in fact a simple story as we like them at L'Arbre à Café:
- A history of heritage: Hippolyte Courty comes from three generations of cutlers, the famous Coutellerie Courty in Paris, and has himself worked there, written in specialized magazines and even been a jury member for the MOF cutlery. When it comes to knives, Hippolyte and L'Arbre à Café are no beginners.
- A story of excellence: choosing the Perceval company based in Thiers, the capital of French cutlery, was the assurance of handmade, artisanal work, with perfect design and ergonomics. What other wood to choose than that of the excellence of coffee growing. A biodynamic plantation, a prestigious coffee tree and a delicious coffee.
- A gastronomic history: before inventing the gastronomic café with L'Arbre à Café, Hippolyte worked for a long time as a gastronomic critic, and especially Yves Charles, the owner of Perceval was himself a restaurant owner, one Michelin star, in Paris. This is where Yves and Hippolyte met.
- A story of encounters: when L'Arbre à Café travels to the plantations, we always bring wine to our planter friends. So, one day, Jamison Savage and I decided that we should do something with this wood, something useful and drinkable.
- A story of neighborhood: chance or determinism, L'Arbre à Café is located in front of the Maison Courtine (not Courtyne), the former restaurant of Yves Charles...
- A collaboration: a coffee roaster, a cutlery maker, a planter
- A wine story: Before creating L'Arbre à Café, Hippolyte worked in the wine industry for a long time, and today, L'Arbre à Café is the favorite coffee shop of the winemakers. Our friendships and our presence at the most beautiful wine fairs in France mean that creating a sommelier in a café has always been an obvious choice for us.
- A sommelier's story: the balance and the gourmet complexity of the coffees of L'Arbre à Café make it the sommelier's coffee. So, as a wink and a thank you for this elective and gustatory affinity, we wanted to pay tribute to them and consolidate this bridge between the hemispheres, between coffee and wine that we have been building since 2009.
