Made from North American pines, they are compostable and biodegradable: the trees used to make the paper are responsiblyharvested andcomply with the Forest Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification sustainability programs. 

The white color comes from oxygen cleaning, not chlorine bleaching.
