We are currently unable to offer Bourbon Pointu due to the severe drought that hit Reunion Island at the end of 2024, making it impossible to harvest quality cherries.
Indeed, our growers Nadia and Patrice's plantation is natural and operates without irrigation: it was therefore particularly affected by this prolonged drought and by temperature variations.
We offer our full support to this long-standing partner, who is going through difficult times, directly impacted by the climate.
While waiting for the next harvest, and for all Bourbon Pointu lovers, discover Le Bourbon Pointu du Salvador: Laurina Camelias, from the same variety as Le Bourbon Pointu de La Réunion!
Bourbon Pointu Grand Cru de La Réunion is dominated by red fruits. Remarkably refined and complex. The least caffeinated variety grown on an oceanic island, Bourbon Pointu offers a cup that combines extreme sweetness, long finish and powerful aroma.
This is the crazy story of a resurrection. Reunion Island, an exceptional volcanic soil, is the cradle of a unique and rare variety, the Laurina known as Bourbon Pointu because of the shape of its shrub. Fragile, not very productive and capricious, it did not resist to modernity and disappeared. But, a little more than 10 years ago, some producers decided otherwise, and brought back the source. Patrice and Nadia De Berge are among them. Today, they cultivate a 3,500m2 plot of land and produce less than 400kg of coffee per year.
