Step by step preparation of coffee beans

More than 80% of us throughout the country consume at least one cup of coffee a day. The so-called black gold is, in fact, very popular with the French, and this, on every occasion of the day, regardless of its form. If it is true that coffee pods or ground coffee are very popular, coffee beans are the only coffee consumed by the most demanding coffee lovers.

In this form, the coffee is pure and retains all its freshness. However, in order toappreciate all its flavors, it is necessary to prepare your coffee beans properly. Here is how to proceed.

What is coffee beans?

Coffee beans are undoubtedly the purest form of coffee available. Purchased in this form, the consumer can then enjoy a customized consumption. He can determine the caliber of the grind as well as its freshness. It is therefore easier to consume a coffee of very good quality.

Coffee beans go through a long process, from the simple seed to the plant that will give a coffee bean. The latter will then be ideally roasted before ending up in a cupboard. The only thing left to do is to grind the necessary quantity of coffee, before being able to enjoy a cup of coffee and its sharp and complex aromas.

Prepare coffee beans in three different ways

The preparation of coffee beans is not the same depending on the machine used. Each machine requires a different extraction method.

Making coffee beans with a machine without a grinder

For someone who has a coffee machine without an integrated grinder, it is essential to get a coffee grinder. The grinder allows you to finely grind the coffee beans used in the preparation of the drink.

To do this, weigh between 7 and 10 grams of coffee and then grind it coarsely. Ideally, it is advisable to shake the machine regularly so that each coffee bean is properly ground.

Then pass the grind through the filter. Remember to press it down to make it homogeneous. Then install the filter holder on the coffee machine. Once the water is at the right temperature and the cup is warm, it is time to start the extraction.

The result is a full-flavored beverage with a dense creamy layer on the surface.

Prepare coffee beans with a machine that contains a built-in grinder

With a coffee machine that contains an integrated grinder, there is no need for a parallel grinder. In this case, the coffee beans are ground by the automatic machine.

To prepare coffee beans, set the grinder to one of the positions that allows you to obtain a more or less coarse grind. In any case, avoid using too fine a grind. These do not give an optimal result. Then program your machine to use between 7 and 10 grams of coffee per cup.

After this step, load the filter, which can be slightly moistened beforehand. Once the water is at the right temperature, you can start the extraction process.

Making coffee beans with a piston machine

For a piston machine, again, the need for a grinder to grind the coffee beans is present. Allow between 7 and 12 grams of coffee. The grinder should be shaken regularly to ensure a uniform grind.

At the same time, the water should be heated until it reaches a temperature between 90 and 95 degrees. Then add the water and the grind to the plunger machine. Stir well so that all the grounds are impregnated with water. Wait 5-7 minutes, then turn on the plunger.

However, care must be taken not to press the plunger too hard. The ground coffee could get between the plunger and the wall of the coffee maker and leave a deposit of coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup. Wait a few more moments before tasting the cup of coffee.

Mistakes to avoid when preparing coffee beans

The first mistake to avoid when preparing coffee beans is to have water that is too hot, or not hot enough. In fact, the ideal water temperature should be between 90 and 95 degrees to obtain a perfect result.

Similarly, in order to consume fresh coffee, it is imperative to grind the coffee beans only from the moment you are going to drink them. Keeping ground coffee for too long is the best way to lose its aromas.

Ideally, coffee should be poured into a warm cup. Pouring hot liquid into a cold cup will cause it to cool much too quickly. It is therefore advisable to preheat the cup by pouring a few drops of hot water into it before pouring the coffee. The same rule applies to a plunger coffee maker, which can be rinsed with hot water before putting in the ground coffee.

The coffee mug is also important, as it is best not to pour coffee into just any container. Porcelain cups have the disadvantage that they do not retain the heat of your drink. Therefore, cups with thick walls are preferable, in order to keep all the heat of the coffee.

It is also advisable to avoid preparing the drink with old coffee. Ideally, the coffee beans should have been roasted within the last three weeks so that you can enjoy a delicious, full-flavoured drink.

Another important concept is that coffee should not be measured by trial and error. The grammage is very important. If you are preparing an espresso, for example, you will need 7 to 12 grams of grind, depending on your taste (mild or strong). Without precise measurements, the coffee could be too strong, or on the contrary, have a rather pronounced watery taste.

In addition, it is better to choose a good quality water, which is not too impure. The opposite case could affect the flavors of the coffee.

How to store your coffee beans

With a one kilo bag of coffee beans, one can normally prepare between 120 and 140 cups of coffee. In order to enjoy each cup, it is important to store the coffee properly. In this case, the bag of coffee beans must be keptaway from light. Light can damage the coffee beans.

The same is true for air. Once a bag of coffee is opened, it should be kept in an airtight container. It can also be stored in the coffee machine's tank if it is opaque. From then on, you will enjoy the full power and complexity of your coffee beans at every opportunity.

Now you know how to brew coffee beans. With these tips, you'll be able to enjoy all the flavors of your beverage, every time.
