The main reasons to choose ground coffee

Ground coffee is the most common and best-selling form of coffee today. Filter coffee, pods or capsules: all use ground coffee. If ground coffee is the most common form of coffee, it is not by chance. Indeed, ground coffee has many advantages.

Sometimes perceived as less qualitative than coffee beans, it is however nothing of the sort. Moreover, it is very practical for people who do not have the time to grind their own coffee, but who still want to enjoy the best flavors of their drink.

A quick and easy coffee to prepare

The first reason to choose ground coffee is the simplicity with which you can prepare your hot drink. While many people drink their coffee in the morning to give themselves energy, few people are lucky enough to be able to take their time, unless they sacrifice a few precious minutes of sleep.

Thanks to ground coffee, it is very simple and fast to prepare your coffee. It does not require any particular accessory or know-how, unlike coffee beans, which must be ground using a manual or electric coffee grinder. Already ground, all you have to do is open the package and pour the desired amount of coffee into your coffee maker to enjoy your hot drink.

Choosing pre-ground coffee saves time and greatly simplifies the preparation of the drink.

Ground coffee, an easily accessible coffee

As mentioned in the introduction, ground coffee is the most common form of coffee. Ground coffee simplifies the preparation and is therefore sold in many shops, on the Internet and by specialists.

In its most common form, ground coffee is accessible to the greatest number of people, just as it is available in many different grinds and flavors to satisfy the tastes and preferences of everyone. Moreover, it is very easy to find a ground coffee adapted to your coffee maker.

If coffee beans are also available in stores, the choice is often less important. It is then necessary to order on the internet and wait a few days to be able to drink your coffee. If a consumer runs out of coffee, it will be easier to find the ideal coffee in ground rather than in bean.

A more ecological coffee that requires less expenditure

There is not a big difference between the price of ground coffee and the price of coffee beans. The price of coffee depends on the brand and the store where the consumer buys it. However, ground coffee is still the cheapest form of coffee due to its ease of preparation.

Since ground coffee does not require special accessories, such as a manual or electric coffee grinder, and can be used with a filter coffee maker that costs less than other coffee makers, choosing ground coffee is a smart choice for spending less money.

Ground coffee or coffee beans, it is in any case much cheaper to buy than capsules and pods. It is also, at the same time, much more ecological. The dosage of ground coffee can be controlled to use only the necessary amount of coffee and thus reduce waste. In addition, ground coffee, unlike pods, requires much less packaging.

A coffee compatible with your coffee maker

The reason why ground coffee does not require a lot of extra money to be consumed is also because it is compatible with a large number of coffee makers.

A quality ground coffee is one that is prepared with the right grind size. While it is not easy to grind your own coffee beans to the perfect size, pre-ground coffee simplifies preparation by providing the right grind for the coffee maker. Simply choose ground coffee for a filter coffee maker to get the right grind.

It is thus possible to choose your ground coffee according to your coffee maker:

  • For an Italian coffee maker, the ideal grind of the ground coffee must be fine like powdered sugar to let the water through, but also thick enough not to pass through the holes of the filter;
  • For a piston coffee maker, the ideal grind is a coarse one, such as crystal sugar;
  • For a filter coffee maker, the ideal grind for a brew is medium, similar to that of powdered sugar.

Finally, in order to make espresso with ground coffee, it is important to choose a grind that resembles fine salt. The grind must remain granular to offer resistance to the water during the preparation at high pressure.

Tastes just as good as coffee beans

Some preconceived ideas are hard to ignore. Contrary to what you may think, ground coffee does not offer a lesser quality of taste than coffee beans. It is therefore possible to drink a very good quality coffee by choosing ground coffee.

This form of coffee is nothing more than pre-ground coffee beans. Thus, any kind of coffee can be ground, even the best. The ground coffee can come from any part of the world and from any terroir. It is therefore possible to choose arabicas or robustas in the form of ground coffee.

Only the conditions of preservation and the time of conservation can attenuate the quality of a ground coffee. Thus, it is preferable to consume ground coffee quickly, i.e. up to 2 weeks after being ground. It is also important to store ground coffee in an airtight place to avoid oxidation and loss of aroma. Ground coffee should therefore be stored in a cool, dry place, away from light.

Organic ground coffee: it's possible

Here's the good news: it's possible to choose ground and organic coffee. Just like coffee beans, ground coffee can be organically grown to offer exceptional flavors while preserving the health of the consumer.

An organic ground coffee is a coffee produced with respect for the environment and the requirements of European regulations. Organic coffee production also bans the use of chemicals, such as pesticides, to offer a more natural and healthier composition.

Choosing an organic ground coffee allows you to enjoy a coffee with great aromatic qualities, capable of providing the best benefits of this antioxidant drink, rich in minerals and vitamins. It is also an opportunity to consume more intelligently, by favouring coffee from environmentally friendly crops. With more than 10 million tons of coffee produced each year, it is more than important to pay attention to the origin of your coffee and the methods used for its production.
