In energy, as everywhere else, there is the intention, and the action, the desire to do more and better, and the action, in short, words and deeds. In electricity and gas, as everywhere else, there is the approximate, the simulated, the self-assessed or self-certified, the fake, and its opposite, the 100%, the certified, the verified and verifiable, the transparent.
At L'Arbre à Café we like transparencyWe like evaluations by independent and expert third parties, we like certifications, because we like what is true, certain, precise, verified and verifiable.
So for energy, we have chosen, we drive at 100% renewable. L'Arbre à Café is the first roaster to use 100% renewable and local energy, and the only one certified EkoEnergy, the ecolabel for energy!
What does that mean? Quite simply, it means that 100% of the electricity and gas we use to roast your coffee, light our stores and heat our offices and school are renewable, really.
Thus, for gas, we use biomethane supplied by EkWateur, the 100% renewable and French gas supplier, for electricity French hydroelectricity produced by the Beaucaire dam operated by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône at Ilek, the green energy ( https://www.ilek.fr/) 100% local, artisanal and renewable.
Local and renewable is therefore our energy, as organic or biodynamic and "direct producer" are our coffees.
EkoEnergy(https://www.ekoenergy.org/) is the ecolabel that certifies the renewable origin of energy. Indeed, if several suppliers propose renewable offers, rare are the 100% renewable offers, and even rarer are the certified offers, that is to say guaranteeing per kwh that the energy you consume will have its strict equivalent in renewable, here and now, and not in x years and in such or such place.
So whether you drink coffee at home, or go to a store on rue du Nil or rue Oberkampf, you'll be drinking a little more of the world's best coffee.
