L'Arbre à Café has been working since its origin to make the world a better place, by putting the same level of excellence in gustative, social and environmental qualities. It is not by chance that our parent company is called Terres et Hommes...

We did not wait to act in depth and on a daily basis, to do good for people and good for the earth, to integrate into our corporate mission the harmony of people and the earth through coffee.

Because environmental speeches are multiplying, because "similes" and other self-certifications are blurring the lines, because highly mediatized actions that are not very effective in environmental terms are confusing the minds and breaking the reference points, we have decided, at L'Arbre à Café, to have our entire approach evaluated and certified by external third parties according to recognized standards, and to share it with you in pure transparency.

L'Arbre à Café, pioneer in sustainable specialty coffee

The mission of L'Arbre à Café is to serve the best coffees, either the best for the earth and for the people who produce, roast, serve and enjoy them.

Since the beginning of L'Arbre à Café, we offer the widest range of biodynamic coffees and the best organic coffees.

Today, all our coffees are from agroforestry and hand-picked, and more than 90% of our catalog is certified organic, almost half of which is also Demeter the biodynamic label, which follows even more demanding specifications.

And our commitment to high-taste, high-environmental quality coffee farming has led us to accompany some of the world's best farmers in their transition to more sustainable farming practices. Jamison Savage's Finca Deborah in Panama is one example. The Araku Project in India is another.

The Coffee Tree, Carbon Neutral

L'Arbre à Café is officially the first carbon-neutral French producer-refactor.

To carry out our carbon footprint®, we called on a firm that follows official standards (ADEME and ICROA) and not an alternative or proprietary methodology. 

It is EcoActEcoAct, recognized as one of the world references in the sector, has accompanied us, and has enabled to ANALYZE our emissions, then to REDUCE them and finally, to COMPENSATE those that remained. 

By carrying out our carbon footprint®, we are one of the few roasters that are neutral from soil to cup.

Participate in the protection of the Amazonian forest: Madre de Dios

To compensate for our residual emissions, we wanted to act, right now, and in Peru because The Coffee Tree has its plantation there, Finca Mariposa. But we did not want to limit ourselves to planting trees. We are already doing it on the 35 ha of the Finca. And a tree takes so long to grow and its growth is made uncertain by the more and more frequent climatic events.

We participate in the conservation and protection of the primary forest thanks to the Madre de Dios project in the Peruvian Amazon. This conservation-protection approach of carbon sink is essential, and also allows to protect unique ecosystems that are in danger.

It is obviously part of the official framework of carbon credits and meets the most demanding specifications (Gold Standard).

Madre de Dios is 100,000 hectares of Amazonian forest conserved35 endangered species monitored, 2 indigenous communities protected, and more than 25 million tons of CO2 avoided over 38 years...

By offsetting now, we are neutral today. Our neutrality is therefore not a promise but a proven reality according to the best standards.

The bottom line is that L'Arbre à Café is one of the few carbon neutral roasters from soil to cup.
